Bitmovin has launched its AI Contextual Advertising solution, which uses machine learning models to optimise ad placement based on the content being used.
Leveraging the power of Bitmovin Playback Solution and Bitmovin Encoding, the solution aims to enable users to maximise revenue opportunities through targeted advertising, following the rationale that viewers are more likely to respond with adverts relevant to the content they are currently watching.
AI analysis of video and/or audio content is leveraged by Bitmovin’s Encoding solution with metadata extracted by an AI model of OpenAI enabling more content-focused ad placement.
Each piece of metadata is assigned a timestamp specific to its position within the content it belongs to. The metadata provides information enabling targeted advertising along with a broader content description, and is sent by Bitmovin Player to a content-aware ad server which replies with contextual ads.
The player generates a conversion heatmap which optimises the ad’s position, aiming to increase its success. The heatmap is mapped to categories based on the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s taxonomy, said the company, along with AI analysis of historic data and the current user environment.
Conversion rates are measured at different points, combining with information about the viewer’s environment which enable placement at the optimal conversion point. Contextual metadata ensures adverts are not placed with content incompatible with the brand.
Integrating existing Bitmovin products provides simplicity for users, with no need for multiple third-party integrations. Bitmovin’s AI Contextual Advertising is compatible with Server-Side Ad Insertion (SSAI), Client-Side Ad Insertion, and Server-Guided Ad Insertion (SGAI), said the company.
