SolarWinds launches next-generation observability platform with enhanced hybrid IT capabilities

Observability and information technology management software company SolarWinds Worldwide LLC today announced the launch of the next generation of its observability platform that delivers full-stack visibility across all IT environments.

The new SolarWinds Observability builds on the company’s 25 years of network and infrastructure monitoring by expanding its network, infrastructure and cloud observability capabilities to give customers value and flexibility in deployment. The enhancements include broader on-premises infrastructure monitoring, expanded cloud infrastructure observability and enhanced artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities.

The new release seeks to tackle issues such as visibility and management in distributed hybrid IT environments. SolarWinds argues that most existing monitoring and observability solutions focus on on-prem or cloud deployments. That forces IT organizations to prioritize one over the other, creating an observability gap for the organizations still managing hybrid architectures.

The new SolarWinds Observability addresses the issue by giving customers the choice of what to monitor and observe and how to do it in a way that best fits their needs. The enhanced solution provides expansive visibility and AI-driven insights to help customers manage modern IT environments efficiently, enhance performance, ensure flexible deployment and optimize IT costs and resources.

“We believe customers should decide how they monitor and manage their hybrid IT infrastructures — not vendors dictating their choices,” said Krishna Sai, senior vice president of technology and engineering at SolarWinds.

New and expanded capabilities for SolarWinds Observability SaaS and Self-Hosted include broader on-premises infrastructure monitoring that allows users to track server components like bandwidth and response time. The platform now provides real-time alerts when server resources hit critical thresholds to ensure proactive issue management and expanded cloud infrastructure observability, which enhances monitoring for Amazon Web Services, Azure and Kubernetes environments.

SolarWinds Observability also now delivers more comprehensive network performance analysis that allows users to scan, map and track devices for performance metrics such as latency and throughput. In doing so, the service helps identify issues early and supports an increased scale for software-defined wide-area network solutions, including Fortinet and Meraki. Additionally, the service’s Vulnerability and Risk Dashboard now cover more devices, reducing infrastructure costs without sacrificing performance.

On the AI and machine learning side, the platform now offers capabilities, including anomaly-based alerts and IT service management integration, which enhances incident management and reduces alert fatigue.

In addition to the updated SolarWinds Observability announcement, the company announced a new combined license for its two Database Observability self-hosted products, Database Performance Analyzer and SQL Sentry. Customers can now buy one license and use it for either product, giving them the flexibility to choose the right solution for their environment.
