Tesla Bot Returns: ‘Optimus Gen 2’ Demo Showcases Latest Capabilities, Features, and MORE

The renowned Tesla Bot project is now back with the latest updates to what it can do for humans, with the company calling this new and improved version the Optimus Gen 2. It is a follow-up to the one it showcased earlier this year, the Optimus, which is more popularly known as Tesla’s humanoid robot that is powered by AI and can perform everyday tasks to replace human activities.

The Tesla Bot returns with the latest update posted over at X, showing off a new demonstration video for what it offers, also calling this the Optimus Gen 2. As the new robot in town, Tesla looked back on the different iterations of the robot in the past year, and it was first called the Bumblebee in 2022 before it was given the name "Optimus" in 2023.

According to the showcase, Optimus Gen 2 is offering its own-designed sensors all around its fingers, also improving the bot to be 30 percent faster and 10 kilograms lighter compared to the previous version.

What is even more iconic with the showcase is how fluid and smooth it moves, with actuators-integrated electronics and harnessing present.

According to Julian Ibarz, Tesla’s Senior Staff Software Engineer, the video presentation is real, attesting that it did not use CGI or other edits to show its capabilities. He added that this is the work of the team, centering on "incredible hardware improvements."

These improvements bring a better performance from the bot, in terms of the video showcase, getting more "human" in its actions. However, it is important to note that real-world tests would show more of its capabilities, hopefully coming soon.

The Renowned Tesla Bot Project
It was in 2021 when Elon Musk and Tesla first unveiled the Tesla Bot in their AI Day showcase, showing off the minimalist, bi-pedal machine that is set to bring a massive help to humans, Musk and the company highlighted that this bot will be powered by artificial intelligence, and it will accomplish the boring, dangerous, and repetitive things that people do not like to do.

Tesla Bot was given a timeline by Musk and the clean energy company that it will arrive by 2022, and it will be offering its services for all buyers, centering on different industries as well, especially the household.

Initially, the Tesla Bot was believed to be the most powerful AI development of its time, with many giving it massive regard for what it can do, and also bringing "Good AI" to the world.

Earlier this year, there was a series of updates released by Tesla for the Optimus bot, showing more of what it offers the world, with new features available to experience with it.

This December, Tesla is back at it again to present the latest features and capabilities of the humanoid bot, now called the Optimus Gen 2, claiming that what was seen on the video is real and not CGI.
